Reuben

Reuben's story is a poignant reminder of the challenges and responsibilities that come with caring for a pet pig. Reuben's owner realized they were unprepared for the unique needs required for a pig to be happy and thrive. Unlike dogs, pigs require specialized care, including proper diet, space to roam, and social interaction with other pigs. Overwhelmed and unable to meet these needs, Reuben's owner surrendered him to our sanctuary.

Here at Welcome Home, Reuben has found a place where he can thrive. He is a quiet, shy guy who often goes unnoticed by visitors because of his reserved nature. However, those who take the time to get to know him quickly discover his kind, gentle, and loving personality. Reuben adores belly rubs and will stand still for as long as you’re willing to pet him. His best friends, Olivia and Filbert, provide him with companionship and a sense of belonging.

Reuben's journey highlights the importance of understanding the responsibilities involved in caring for pigs. They are intelligent, sensitive animals with complex needs that differ significantly from more common pets.
