Honeybuns

Honeybuns' journey to Welcome Home is a story of resilience and hope. As a production pig on a pig farm, she endured repeated forced impregnation, only to have her babies taken from her over and over again. Many of her babies, like Poppy and Pepper who were able to come live with her at Welcome Home, were born with spinal and limb deformities.

Determined to give Honeybuns a better life, we pleaded with the farmer to surrender her. After much persistence, the farmer finally agreed, and Honeybuns found her forever home with us.

At Welcome Home Honeybuns is surrounded by love and care. She enjoys nothing more than basking in the sun with her piggie friends and snuggling up for affectionate cuddles. Her beautiful, kind nature shines through, and her charmingly unique trait of having her tongue almost always hanging out adds to her personality.

In early 2025, Honeybuns faced a serious health crisis—septic arthritis, a painful and aggressive joint infection. This condition can be difficult to treat, requiring intense medical care, pain management, and a lot of patience. Our team has been working tirelessly to give her the best possible treatment, including:

  • ✔️ A regimen of antibiotics to fight the infection

  • ✔️ Anti-inflammatory medications to ease pain and swelling

  • ✔️ Daily care and monitoring to ensure she stays comfortable

  • ✔️ A loving environment, surrounded by her sanctuary family, including her daughter Poppy, who never leaves her side

Septic arthritis is tough to beat, but so is Honeybuns. While her road to recovery has been challenging, she continues to show her sweet, determined spirit every single day. She loves belly rubs and is eating great, which is good, because that’s where we sneak the meds!

Honeybuns' story is a testament to the power of compassion and the importance of giving every animal a chance at a happy life. By sponsoring Honeybuns, you're not just supporting her; you're joining us in our mission to provide a safe haven for all animals in need.
