When Olivia first came to us, she was terrified of human contact. We couldn't get near her. It took months of patience and lots of snackies to earn her trust. We will never forget the happiness we felt when Olivia finally trusted us enough to lay over for a belly rub!
This brother and sister pair came to us after their human realized that she couldn't give them the life that piggies need to thrive.
They were raised as pets: wearing cute outfits and going for walks on leashes. But they eventually got big and needed to root and have lots and lots of space to be piggies.
We are so grateful Addy and Murphy

We are so grateful Addy and Murphy came to us. They are the sweetest, kindest, gentlest pigs we have ever met. All you have to do is look at them and they hit the ground, belly up, waiting for their belly rubs! They get along great with all of sanctuary residents but are happiest together. They are so loveable and cuddly and perfectly piggy perfect!
Pepper was surrendered to us from the same farmer that gave us Poppy and Honeybuns (their mommy). It's truly impressive that a farmer was willing to give these precious lives a chance by contacting us.

Pepper has faced many challenges. He was born with a malformed spine, preventing him from full use of his back legs. He was given 0% chance of survival by his vet when it was discovered that his kidneys don't function properly.
But we didn't give up and neither did Pepper!
Pepper is the happiest, kindest, gentlest, most determined guy you will meet! He is best friends with everyone he meets and shares his snuggles with all of his pig friends, although Poppy and him share a special bond. Even though they came to us a year apart, they somehow knew they were siblings and were instantly bonded.
Pepper is a miracle and we are so very blessed to share our lives with him.

Pig farmers routinely kill the smallest piglets of each new litter at one or two days old, because these “runts” are considered unlikely to reach market weight by the desired slaughter date. Wilbur’s was saved! Despite his rough beginning, Wilbur always displays kindness and gentleness. And he is always ready and willing to roll over for a belly rub!
Bellatrix the BRAVE!
Bella was born on a pig farm. The farmer noticed she wasn't healthy, so he left her in a corner of the barn to die. A year and a half later (yes, you read that right) she was still alive. Bella is disabled and has dwarfism. At a year and a half, her siblings weighted 150 lbs. She weighed 10.
Today Bella is thriving!

Filbert came from a farm where the farmers are taking advantage of the "pet pig" trend. We get it - pigs are adorable. Especially when they are piglets. But farm sanctuaries are bursting at the seams with pigs that find themselves abandoned and in need of a new home simply due to the fact that their humans were unprepared to handle a pig.

But farm sanctuaries are bursting at the seams with pigs that find themselves abandoned and in need of a new home simply due to the fact that their humans were unprepared to handle a pig. Pigs have needs that can make them challenging companion animals– freedom to roam, places to root in the dirt, and other piggy friends to spend time with. They require space to express their natural instincts and this doesn't always fit in with a human's lifestyle.
If you are considering a pig for a pet, please do your research and visit farm sanctuaries to see what is involved with having a pig join the family :)

We are forever grateful that Honeybuns is with us. At three years old, Honeybuns had already had six litters of babies. She was confined to a small stall her entire life and produced babies that would be taken away and sent to slaughter at 6 months.
Honeybuns is the reason we exist. She is why we fight so hard to shed light on the meat and dairy industry. Honeybuns honestly has the kindest soul you will meet. She has absolutely no aggression and is friends with every animal (and person) on the farm. All she wants is to love and be loved - just as all animals deserve.
Leo was part of a huge rescue referred to as the Pacific Northwest 250.
A group of amazing people rescued over 250 pigs from an extreme hoarding case. The pigs were being severely neglected. No food. No water. No shelter. It was hell on earth.

Pickles came to us in a unique situation. A backyard farmer had several pigs that got loose, Pickles being one of them. All the pigs were being taken to auction where they awaited their death at the slaughterhouse. Pickles escaped and hunkered down in the neighbors barn which they were kind enough to take care of him until contacting us.

He was very tiny for his age but with lots of snacks he is on his way to becoming the silly, curious pig he was destined to be!
Poppy came to us from a pig farmer. Fortunately, the farmer contacted us. This is unusual, as most farmers do not see animals as sentient beings and view them as disposable, especially if they will not be able to profit from them.
Poppy was born with severely bowed front legs. Poppy is a Hampshire pig, which means she is a very large breed

Poppy was born with severely bowed front legs. Poppy is a Hampshire pig, which means she is a very large breed. Without immediate attention, she would not be able to walk.
The veterinarian wasn't sure we could help Poppy, but for us there was no option - of course we would help her - no matter what. We massaged her legs multiple time a day trying to shape them into their correct shape. She wore braces on her legs, which became harder and harder to construct as she grew.
Poppy is a big girl now. Her legs aren't perfect - but they work and she is living life to the fullest. She is super spunky, feisty and protective of her little brother Pepper.
Mama is our oldest pig resident and came to us once her previous owner could no longer breed her anymore. There's no telling how many babies Mama Bear gave birth to through the years. Thankfully she's retired now and gets to live the good life having lazy days and lots of belly rubs!

Another pig was being picked up from this pig farm and one of the slaughterhouse workers agreed to let Freedom go as well.
We cannot imagine the horrors that Freedom endured while at the pig farm and subsequent slaughterhouse.
She seems to be making up for lost time! She loves to run and run and run. She is always smiling and her enthusiasm for life is contagious!
Dottie's story is an all too common one. She was raised as a 4H pig.

Thankfully Dottie escaped the fate that was predetermined for her. Her family couldn't send her to slaughter. They recognized her for her beauty, inside and out. Dottie is calm, gentle and curious. Like all pigs, she is highly intelligent and enjoys a good belly rub!
