Meet the goaty goats!

These two are one of our favorite rescues. Rarely do we get to see a mom and baby remain together. We were contacted by a lady who breeds goats. She was concerned about Peanut because Peanut couldn't stand. She was super wobbly and shook without control. The lady couldn't afford medical expenses to determine what was wrong with Peanut so she surrendered Peanut and her Mommy to us. Peanut was only a day old when we got her. We took her to OSU Veterinary Hospital where she underwent a massive amount of testing. Everything from spinal taps to MRIs. The vets could not figure out what was causing her weakness. 

Peanut and her mommy stayed at OSU for a week. Peanut gained some strength and was eventually able to come home with us. 

She is still a bit wobbly and falls down easily, but otherwise is super healthy and strong. She runs and jumps and enjoys life - with her mommy - just the way it should be. 

Pronounced "Yayboe" and "Toovay".

These two precious cuties were going to be put down when they were too big to be bottle fed. They were an attraction at a petting zoo. People paid money to bottle feed them and get their pictures taken. 

Thankfully these sweeties escaped their dreadful fate. After months of exploitation, the zoo agreed to let them be rescued. 

Yebo and Tove are best friends. They are always together and love human companionship. They love to talk to people and let them know what's on their mind! 

Fred and George were considered waste products because they were born males on a goat dairy farm. The farmer was trying to get rid of them, but in the meantime they decided to practice disbudding on them. They did such a horrible job that George's disbudding site got super infected. The infection went into his nasal cavity almost to his brain. We rushed him to OSU where he received life saving care. If he would have stayed at the farm he would have suffered a very painful death. 

Despite everything they have been through, Fred and George are super loving, friendly and playful. Not to mention extremely handsome!

Xena and her sister Zelda came to us when their elderly owner was no longer able to care for them. Xena is a Lamancha goats, which means her ears are tiny! 

Xena is super shy, but is slowly warming up to human interaction. She's our oldest goat resident which means she gets a little extra TLC. 

Xena has such soulful eyes! Look into the tranquility! You can get lost in her gaze. She would be a great yoga partner!

Tansy lost her goat family by a cougar. After two nights of losing a goat to a cougar, her owner reached out to us because she feared Tansy would be next. We didn't hesitate and rushed to get her. Understandably, Tansy was quite scared and overwhelmed. She wouldn't leave our sides for days on end. She was terrified of everything, even the chickens.

Our hearts broke for Tansy. She had lost everything she knew and was now surrounded by a whole new assortment of strange animals.

She eventually bonded with Peanut, the baby of the sanctuary. They shyly play with one another...still unsure, but finding comfort in each other's friendship. Tansy is the epitome of gentleness and grace. She is kind, affectionate and extremely charming. Look at those ears!

Babies of Mama Maple (RIP) We rescued these babies right after they were born. Luckily they were health enough to survive due to their mom taking care of them even though she was in horrible shape. Today, Lennon and Bowie never leave each other's side. If they are separated even for a second, they will call out until they are back with each other. Brotherly bond isn't just in humans, it's in animals too and this pair is the perfect example of what being a family is.
