our Tremendously Handsome Cow Boys!

We were right on when we named this tall, dark and handsome guy. Romeo is the biggest lover boy on the farm...he thinks he's a big puppy and likes to jump on people! And he's the biggest cow EVER! The vet even agreed that Romeo is the biggest cow she's ever seen!

Romeo came to us with Pongo and Milo. They were in veal crates when a compassionate lady bought them from the dairy farm.

They were sick and frail. They had scours and were weak. Romeo was always the biggest boy of the group, so it's no surprise that he grew into a massive, beautiful boy. Despite his size, he is the most loving, affectionate cow at the sanctuary.

Milo

Romeo

Milo, AKA Oreo Nose. When he was younger, Milo had a black freckled and pink nose. It was so cute! Freckle nose or not, Milo is a looker! He's also a charmer. He's gentle and friendly.

This big cuddle bug is a Holstein cow. They are a very large breed, especially the males. Unfortunately, the males rarely get to grow to maturity. Holsteins

This big cuddle bug is a Holstein cow. They are a very large breed, especially the males. Unfortunately, the males rarely get to grow to maturity. Holsteins are dairy cows, which means that the boys are either disposed of at birth, or put into a crate to live in solitude so that they can become veal.

Milo, Romeo and Pongo were so lucky to escape that fate. And we are so lucky to have them as part of our family.

Buster

Buster

Charlie

Buster got his name by busting out of a fence and into freedom onto our property where he lives happily with his new cow brothers!

Charlie

Charlie

Meet Charlie Brown Cow! Charlie came to us at just hours old. After his birth he was ripped away from his mom and considered disposable. This is the dairy industry. Males don't have a chance. Charlie is one of the lucky ones who was able to escape because of a kind group of activists who secured his release.

Charlie is a Jersey Cow. He is playful, spunky and loves to play "gotcha" with his horns! He especially loves his brother Oliver!

Oliver

Oliver came to us from the same farm as Charlie. He arrived within hours of his birth. He was very sick. He did not receive colostrum from his mommy, which is essential to newborn calves.

Oliver spent his first week of life being cared for at OSU Veterinary Hospital. He received life-saving treatment and thankfully pulled through.

Oliver is a happy, healthy boy now. He is the shyest cow at the sanctuary, but he can be feisty, just like his brother Charlie. He is a Jersey cow, so he will always be smaller in stature, but huge in our hearts!
